B'luru doc with no travel history infected with Omicron, his 5 contacts test Covid-19 positive

A 46-year-old doctor from Bengaluru without travel history has been infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, raising concerns about its presence in the community. The doctor’s five contacts have also tested positive for Covid, and their samples have been sent for genomic sequencing to confirm the variant. The doctor, fully vaccinated, does not have severe symptoms.
