Fed delivers big rate hike, signals possible smaller increases ahead

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday raised interest rates by three-quarters of a percentage point as it continued to battle the worst outbreak of inflation in 40 years, but signaled future increases in borrowing costs could be made in smaller steps to account for the "cumulative tightening of monetary policy" it has enacted so far.

Renovation firm only painted Morbi footbridge, polished cables, say cops

“The contractor seems to have just painted and polished all the cables ahead of the bridge being reopened to the public on October 26. We haven't found anything so far to confirm if any of those worn-out cables were changed," said a police officer privy to the probe. "We are now looking into this aspect in detail."

BJP’s Himachal vice president files papers as rebel, expelled

Four former MLAs and an ex-MP were expelled Monday for contesting as independents from different constituencies — Tejwant Singh Negi from Kinnaur; Kishori Lal from Anni (SC); Manohar Dhiman, from Indora (SC); KL Thakur from Nalagarh; and former MP Kripal Parmar from Fatehpur.
